The Insects Christmas

I love bugs.  But that's not surprising, after all, who doesn't?  They are amazing, tiny creatures who are fascinating to watch.

I also love Christmas, so it's not surprising that at Christmastime I always watch The Insects Christmas.  This early stop-motion animated film was made in 1913 in Russia.  It features a tiny Santa, multiple insects, and a frog all celebrating Christmas.

I absolutely adore these images from 1919.  I love anything to do with a flea circus and these well dressed fleas would certainly turn heads as they go to watch a circus performance.  I think it's wonderful that someone took the time to assemble and photograph this tiny treasure.  Wouldn't it be interesting to get into this person's mind....

Unexpected Beauty

Anybody can look at a beautifully manicured garden and see beauty.  However, it's those times when you find something beautiful where you don't expect it that your soul is truly moved.  Some would call these weeds growing on a storm drain, but I think it's a source of beauty!
